Overview

Tracey Lau is an Associate in the Firm's Dispute Resolution practice. Her practice focuses on multijurisdictional commercial disputes, as well as on regulatory issues and investigations.

Prior to joining White & Case, Tracey was an associate at another US law firm.

Experience

Tracey's recent experience* includes:

International Arbitration

Acting for a Macau casino on its construction issues with its general contractor with a project value of USD 3 billion; pursued an ICC arbitration for failure to obtain government approvals against the contractor which settled after a mediation.

Defending a Chinese venture capital fund on an emergency arbitrator application and substantive CIETAC proceedings concerning an intellectual property dispute for the licence of fine-dining establishments, and high-end catering products in Mainland China.

Acting for a Korean social media company on its post-M&A dispute (involving HKIAC arbitral proceedings and an insolvent winding-up) with a Hong Kong start-up. The dispute concerns the failure to complete an SPA. Favourable settlement for the client was obtained.

Litigation

Representing a major Taiwanese client in a multibillion-dollar trust dispute, one of the highest-value and most complex matters being litigated anywhere in the world, involving court proceedings in Hong Kong, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Taiwan and the US.

Acting for a Hong Kong-based hedge fund in a just and equitable winding-up action in the Cayman Islands with respect to its investment in a NYSE-listed company.

Representing a US-listed company in the context of an alleged multinational and complex electronic fraud. Favourable judgment was obtained.

Advising a Chinese tech company on a petition to the Cayman Islands Court to determine the fair value of the shares held by the dissenting shareholders. 

Regulatory

Advising various Hong Kong-listed companies on HKEx inquiries and investigations.

Advising a Hong Kong-listed company on an application to the Listing Review Committee of the HKEx for review of findings of breaches and sanctions imposed by the Listing Committee. Favourable result for the client was obtained.

Advising various Hong Kong-listed companies on SFC investigations.
