Sylvia Lorenz is a partner based in Berlin, who serves as co-Head of White & Case's global Artificial Intelligence practice. She is an IP/IT lawyer and a member of the firm's Data, Privacy and Cybersecurity practice, with deep expertise in the EU's rapidly evolving digital regulatory framework, including the EU AI Act, the GDPR, the Data Act, and the Digital Services Act.

Sylvia combines over a decade of experience handling high-stakes technology disputes involving algorithmic decision-making with frontline regulatory and product counselling for some of the world's most prominent technology companies and digital platforms. She advises clients not only on compliance strategy but also on the disputes that arise when that framework is tested in court, including, notably, some of the first litigation cases arising directly from the EU AI Act.

Sylvia is also an active thought leader in EU AI regulation and related digital legislation. Most notably, she authored the German chapter of White & Case's AI Watch global regulatory tracker as well as significantly contributed to the Firm's EU AI Act Handbook.

Sylvia focuses on digital platforms in a variety of forms and industries, in particular social media, automotive, energy and cloud services. Her practice covers the whole range of legal issues relating to digital platforms, namely negotiating all types of contracts, advising on the fast-evolving legal framework vis-à-vis end-users and public authorities (including data protection, consumer protection, and electronic communication law), dealing with regulators, and representing clients in high-stakes litigation.
