Deema Abini
Biography
Overview
Deema is a commercial litigation associate in the Firm's Los Angeles office. Her domestic and international practice focuses on defending multinational corporations in complex civil litigation and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on the technology, social media, and food and beverage industries.
Deema serves as a core member of a team that handles international civil litigation for Facebook and other tech companies, including cutting-edge matters implicating data privacy, cybersecurity, intermediary liability, unfair competition, and class action claims. She manages matters across EMEA and APAC, including several high-stakes cases pending before the Supreme Court of India. Deema also helps clients assess the impact of new and proposed legislation, and navigate product changes and launches in jurisdictions around the world.
Deema is actively involved in pro bono work. She has assisted in matters involving voting rights, veteran benefits, emergency relief, and clemency. She also has provided pro bono mediation services in more than 50 cases for the Los Angeles Superior Court, the California Department of Consumer Affairs and California Lawyers for the Arts.
Prior to joining White & Case, Deema served as a law clerk for the Honorable George H. Wu of the US District Court for the Central District of California. During law school, Deema served as the Managing Editor of the Southern California Law Review and a Writing Fellow for the Legal Writing and Advocacy Program.
