White & Case Advises JBS Global Luxembourg S.à r.l. on its Investment in BioTech Foods

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised JBS Global Luxembourg S.à r.l. (JBS) on its investment in leading Spanish biotechnology company, BioTech Foods, S.L. (BioTech Foods). This investment secures JBS a controlling stake in BioTech Foods and marks JBS's entry into the cultivated protein market. JBS' investment will be instrumental for BioTech's construction of a new plant in Spain and the implementation of the first Center for Research and Development in biotechnology and cultivated protein in Brazil.
BioTech Foods is one of the leaders in the development of biotechnology for the production of cultivated protein. Founded in 2017, the company operates a pilot plant in the Spanish city of San Sebastián, which is expected to reach commercial production by mid-2024.
The White & Case team was led by partner Juan Manuel de Remedios, and included local partner Carlos Daroca, and associates Pedro Hendel and Laura del Olmo (all in Madrid).
