Lihy Teuerstein, CEO of IDE Water Assets, has been in the water infrastructure sector for nearly 20 years. The industry’s challenges have changed over that time and include the rise of contaminants and resulting legislation. There are also new opportunities such as those that can result from optimising technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

In a conversation with White & Case partner Dolly Mirchandani that focuses on the US market, Lihy discusses water pricing, the cost effectiveness of water projects, governments’ role in aggregating facilities and offering incentives for water project investment, how AI might be deployed, how other technological advances can assist in the development and operation of water facilities and the importance of cyber security and private sector involvement in public infrastructure. Lihy also shares her thoughts on the future of the water industry and how it is perceived as a commercial enterprise.
